Side is located on the southern Mediterranean coast about 75 km from Antalya. This unique resort sits on a small peninsula payment, with a width of 300 m and a length of 800, on which the archaeological wonders crowd. At certain points on the main street of Side, which runs from downtown to the old fishing port, including large buildings can zari on both sides of the street.
Once Side was an important commercial city. With its vast fleet to trade with the countries of eastern and western Mediterranean, serving as a port for Turkey. Side was a market for slaves brought from Africa and a center for pirates. After that period ended only Side legitimate businesses, the city continued to thrive.
While Side has become a very important tourist landmark, both for Europe and for Turkey, the city has managed to preserve the authenticity of the air and "outdated." Due to the abundance of archaeological treasures, the whole architecture of the old City Side has the same style - cute, with two-storey stone buildings with wooden balconies, along the labyrinthine alleys.
In Side's everything you could want. For there are many cultural treasure hunters treasure every place: amphitheater dating from the Hellenistic period - with a capacity of about 15,000 people, the Roman temples of Apollo and Artemis, aqueducts and museums. A very pleasant experience is a walk through these ruins at night, when lit.
The resort of Side is flanked by two beaches - to the west, between Sidi and Colak, beaches totaling 30 km in length (also there was also the principal of the resort hotel complex) and the eastern beach is quiet and continues until the island Manavgat River.
